Remember this post which mentioned a US politician using an racial epithet? Well, he lost. And the downslide started with that very incident. That may not have been the only reason for him to lose as this DH article says, but it was the trigger. And it helped the Democrats to take control of the senate - a double-barrelled victory for them.
